Te Rangapū Arotūruki

‘Te Rangapū Arotūruki’, Toi Kai Rawa’s first regional Rangatahi Advisory Group, provide regional representation and diverse perspectives in co-designing key youth-focused initiatives.

This kaupapa emerged from our annual Māori youth leadership summit ‘He Rangatahi, He Anamata’ in 2023, and is now a focal point in Toi Kai Rawa’s refreshed Māori STEAM Strategy.

Located across the Bay of Plenty region, the roopu is dedicated to empowering rangatahi to cultivate leadership qualities while building key skills in community engagement, governance, project management and decision-making. Their input is crucial in creating pathways that elevate skills, strengthen connections, and enhance prosperity for Māori communities.

Key roles for Te Rangapū Arotūruki include:

  • Immersive Leadership and Skills Development: Designing interactive workshops, inspiring speaker sessions, and hands-on activities that promote leadership, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
  • Mentorship and Industry Engagement: Facilitating networking opportunities with industry leaders, community organisations, and educational institutions.
  • Entrepreneurship and Responsive Programs: Encouraging creative thinking and sustainable business development tailored to community needs, fostering local resilience.
  • Community-led Research and Development: Engaging in identifying local challenges and co-creating solutions, ensuring that outcomes are relevant and impactful.
  • Capacity Building: Developing training in entrepreneurship, digital skills, and cultural competency, with support from ongoing mentorship and coaching.

This group will drive important kōrero, collaborative problem-solving and the creation of networks with leaders, innovators, and peers. Collectively, we're dedicated to creating a future where our young people drive positive change and influence the Bay of Plenty rohe for the better.
