The Māori STEAM discovery tours provides an exclusive tour showcasing the vocational opportunities in key high growth sectors in the wider Bay of Plenty from a Māori lens.

Drawing on indigenous knowledge systems, students will explore industries, visit significant cultural sites and hear from a mix of industry leaders, practitioners and learn about the skills employers are looking for.

These initiatives were funded by the Ministry of Education and supported by industry.

The purpose of the Discovery tours is to:

• Showcase potential opportunities to rangatahi Māori in the vocational sector
• Bring together industry, government and Māori as part of the Māori STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) strategy
• Engage Rangatahi Māori from BOP Secondary Schools to participate in these events
